DAS ELEKTRONISCHE BULLETIN DER SCHWEIZERISCHEN FACHPLATTFORM HIV/AIDS UND INTERNATIONALE ZUSAMMENARBEIT

Liebe aidsfocus Leserinnen und Leser

In China operieren Ärzte HIV-positive Menschen nur gegen eine horrende Bezahlung. In Kenia werden HIV-positive Frauen zwangssterilisiert. In der Schweiz berichtet ein Betroffener, wie sich in einer Menschenmenge der Platz um ihn plötzlich weitet, als er erklärt, dass ihm seine HIV-Medikamente heruntergefallen sind. HIV-Positive müssen sich die Frage gefallen lassen: Wieso hast du Aids? Wie und wo hast du Dich angesteckt? Fragen, wie sie bei anderen Erkrankungen wie z.B. Krebs oder Diabetes niemals gestellt werden.

Die Aidsepidemie führt uns in vielerlei Hinsicht vor Augen: Die Würde des Menschen ist antastbar! Beispiele wie diese gibt es unzählige. Auch dreissig Jahren nach Ausbruch der Krankheit sind Menschenrechtsverletzungen, Stigmatisierung und Diskriminierung gegen diese Erkrankung ein Schlüsselfaktor, der eine angemessene Prävention und Behandlung erschwert oder verhindert. Weltweit sterben jährlich ca. eine Million Menschen, die sie sich aufgrund der Angst vor Stigmatisierung nicht behandeln lassen. Der Kampf geht also weiter und er muss mit erhöhtem Einsatz weitergehen, will man das Ziel bis 2030 erreichen: „Zero Discrimination.“

Die Zeit der grossen Aidsbewegung ist vorbei, doch ohne Reaktivierung dieser Bewegung ohne ihr politisches Engagement, ihr anwaltschaftliches Eintreten für die Rechte der Betroffenen und die Mobilisierung der Gemeinschaften soweit besteht Konsens, sind die gesetzten Ziele nicht zu erreichen. „Invest in advocacy“ ist daher einer der Schlüsselfaktoren der UNAIDS Fast Track Kampagne: Menschen müssen über ihre Rechte aufgeklärt und befähigt werden, für ihre Rechte einzustehen. Studien belegen, dass die Mobilisierung von Gemeinschaften und die Implementierung von Advocacy Programmen, die Anfälligkeit von gefährdeten Bevölkerungsgruppen, sich mit HIV zu infizieren, deutlich reduzieren. Nach mehr als dreissig Jahren Erfahrung mit Programmen und Projekten in der HIV/Aids Arbeit kommt man wieder vermehrt zu der Erkenntnis, dass der Einbezug der betroffenen Menschen und Communities bessere Ergebnisse z.B. im Adherencebereich erzielt, als es staatliche Gesundheitseinrichtungen vorweisen können.

Als Motor dieser Bewegung galten schon immer engagierte Persönlichkeiten, die ihre Vision und ihre Hoffnung mit starkem persönlichen Engagement, Herz und Verstand weitertrugen. Mutige Menschen, wie die in unserem „Topic of the Month“ der Aids Hilfe Bern porträtierte HIV-positive Pfarrerin Phumzile Mabizela aus Südafrika, die unerschrocken die Probleme beim Namen nennt und empathisch für die Betroffenen eintritt und für mehr Toleranz in der Öffentlichkeit wirbt.
