Dismantling gains in Global health?
PLOS Medical Journals' Community Blog, 13 July 2015 - Aine Markham from Médecins Sans Frontières warns early this week at the beginning of the Third International Conference in Ethopia that current trends in stagnating spending on aid could be a step backward for global health.
Most low and middle-income countries are still not able to cover their health expenses with out external support. Reduced grants run the risk that barriers to health care such as user fees and out-of-pocket payment will re-emerge and increase. She states: (...) "we are alarmed by the disparity between global rhetoric and the reality faced by the populations we serve." (...)
