Leading HIV Experts to Present Cutting - Edge HIV Science in Vancouver

The International AIDS Society will lead the 8th IAS Conference on HIV Pathogenesis, Treatment and Prevention (IAS 2015) held in Vancouver, Canada from 19 - 22 July 2015. This year’s conference, hosted in partnership with the University of British Columbia Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS, is expected to bring together more than 6,000 participants from over 125 countries.

“These plenaries were chosen to spotlight the most urgent developments in HIV science over the last year,” said Professor Chris Beyrer, IAS 2015 International Chair, President of the International AIDS Society (IAS) and Professor, Department of Epidemiology at the Bloomberg School of Public Health at Johns Hopkins University. “They represent the very top of their field from around the world and we are delighted to have them join us for this meeting.”

The plenary speakers will focus on a specific set of scientific developments including the latest developments to find more effective means to prevent new infections, research into a cure for HIV, Hepatitis C co-infection, and the specific needs of drug users living with or at risk of HIV infection. US Global AIDS Coordinator and Special Representative for Global Health Diplomacy Ambassador Deborah Birx will also reflect on her first year as head of the world’s largest institution dedicated to fighting AIDS. “IAS 2015 comes exactly one year after UNAIDS announced its new 90-90-90 goals. It is the first opportunity the global scientific community has to understand exactly what we need to do to reach those goals," said Dr. Julio Montaner, Local Co-Chair of IAS 2015 and Director of the British Columbia Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS at the University of British Columbia.

The 8th IAS Conference on HIV Pathogenesis, Treatment and Prevention will be held at the Vancouver Convention Center.
