Guidlines for Managing IFBC-Funded National Projects
The National projects to fight alcoholism, HIV/AIDS and poverty, initiated by six African countries - Cameroon, Congo, Ghana, Madagascar, Mozambique and Tanzania - are comprised in the three-year project (2006-2009) by the Coordination of Africa Blue Cross Societies. In order to assist the leadership of Africa Blue Cross in the daunting task of managing these projects and to underline that these projects are not isolated the International Federation of the Blue Cross (IFBC) deemed it necessary to establish some guide- lines.
The guidelines should help to implement a healthy, trans- parent and rigorous management of the allotted resources, namely through:
1. Well planned and well documented activities;
2. Well managed human, material and financial resources, making it possible to achieve at least 50% of expected objectives;
3. Leaders able to raise funds in their country in order to sustain the project;
4. Progress and final evaluations carried out.
